Ask three Bangalore kitchen vendors for a price and you will usually get three numbers that are hard to compare. One quotes per running foot, one per square foot of shutter, and one sends a single package figure with a brand logo on it. All three can be honest. They are just measuring different things.
For 2026, a modular kitchen in a typical Bangalore apartment costs between Rs 1.2 lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh. A compact straight kitchen in a 1 BHK sits at the bottom of that range. A U-shaped kitchen with acrylic shutters, tall units and soft-close hardware throughout sits at the top. Most 2 and 3 BHK kitchens in Whitefield, Sarjapur Road and Electronic City land between Rs 1.8 lakh and Rs 3.8 lakh.
This guide breaks that number down by layout, explains what each line of a quote actually buys, and lists the costs that are often left out until the kitchen is half installed.
How kitchen prices are quoted in Bangalore
The running foot is the most common unit. It is the length of the counter, measured along the wall, and a quoted rate per running foot usually covers the base units below the counter and the wall units above it for that length. A 10-foot L-shaped kitchen with 6 feet on one wall and 4 on the other is 10 running feet.
In 2026 the typical rates are Rs 1,400 to Rs 2,000 per running foot with laminate shutters, Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,600 with acrylic or PU paint shutters, and Rs 3,000 or more with handleless profiles and imported hardware. Tall units, lofts and corner mechanisms are often priced separately, so check whether the rate you have been given includes them.
Some studios quote per square foot of shutter area instead, usually Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,500. This is a fairer way to compare kitchens with very different heights, since a kitchen with a full-height pantry has far more cabinet than its running length suggests.
Package prices ("2 BHK kitchen from Rs 1.49 lakh") are a starting point, not a quote. They are almost always based on the smallest standard layout, laminate shutters and basic hinges. Treat them as the floor and ask for the itemised version.
Price by kitchen layout
These ranges cover cabinets, shutters, hardware and a granite counter, installed. Appliances, civil work and tiling are not included.
A straight kitchen, 8 to 10 feet along one wall, is common in 1 BHK flats and studio apartments. Expect Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 2.4 lakh. Storage is the constraint here, so a tall unit at one end is usually the best Rs 25,000 to Rs 45,000 you can add.
An L-shaped kitchen, 10 to 12 running feet, is the most common layout in Bangalore 2 and 3 BHK flats. Expect Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh. The corner is the part that decides how usable it feels: a blind corner with a basic shelf is cheap and frustrating, while a corner carousel or magic corner adds Rs 18,000 to Rs 45,000 and makes that space reachable.
A parallel kitchen, two facing counters of about 10 feet each, has around 20 running feet of cabinetry. A mid-range laminate parallel kitchen usually lands between Rs 2.2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, and acrylic pushes it toward Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Many of the newer towers along Sarjapur Road and in Whitefield hand over this layout by default.
A U-shaped kitchen, 14 to 18 running feet across three walls, suits larger flats, villas and independent houses. Expect Rs 2.8 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh, and more if you add an island or a breakfast counter.
What is inside a kitchen quote
The carcass is the box behind the shutters. In Bangalore kitchens it should be BWP or marine plywood in the sink base and anywhere near water, and BWR or HDHMR is acceptable for wall units away from the sink. A cheaper carcass in the wrong place is the most common reason kitchens fail in their third or fourth year: the sink base swells, the shutter drops and the hinges stop holding.
The shutters are what you see. Laminate is the most practical and the most forgiving. Acrylic gives a glossy, deep finish and shows every fingerprint. PU paint looks the most refined and can be touched up, but it costs the most. Across a typical kitchen, moving from laminate to acrylic adds roughly Rs 60,000 to Rs 1.2 lakh.
Hardware is the part you touch every day: hinges, drawer channels, lift-up mechanisms for wall units and the handles or profiles. Branded soft-close hinges add Rs 8,000 to Rs 20,000 across a whole kitchen compared with basic ones. Tandem drawer systems for the two or three heaviest drawers are worth more than soft-close on every single door.
Accessories include cutlery trays, plate racks, bottle pull-outs, corner units and wicker or steel baskets. A well-chosen set usually adds Rs 25,000 to Rs 70,000. They are where most of the daily convenience comes from, so it is a poor place to cut.
The counter is usually granite in Bangalore, installed at Rs 550 to Rs 1,200 per running foot. Quartz costs Rs 1,400 to Rs 3,000 per running foot. For a 10 to 12-foot kitchen, the counter is rarely more than 8 to 12 per cent of the total.

The four choices that move the number most
Shutter finish is the biggest single swing, as above. A matte laminate often looks better in a sunlit Bangalore kitchen than high-gloss acrylic, and it costs far less to replace if a panel is damaged.
Tall units and lofts are the second. A floor-to-ceiling pantry or appliance unit adds Rs 30,000 to Rs 80,000, and a loft above the wall units adds Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per running foot. Both add a lot of storage, but lofts are hard to reach and often end up holding things you never use.
Hardware brand is the third. Quotes with the same rate can differ by Rs 40,000 once you check whether the hinges and channels are branded or generic.
Internal accessories are the fourth. Ask for them to be listed one by one, with sizes. "Accessories as per design" in a quote means you have not yet agreed what you are paying for.
Costs that usually sit outside the kitchen quote
Appliances are almost always separate. A 90 cm chimney and a three-burner hob together usually add Rs 25,000 to Rs 70,000. Built-in ovens, dishwashers and microwaves are bought and quoted on their own.
Civil and plumbing work is the next gap. Moving a sink, relocating a gas point or adding a drain for a dishwasher can cost Rs 15,000 to Rs 60,000, and in older Bangalore flats with galvanised iron pipes it is often better to replace the kitchen plumbing while the walls are open.
Electrical points are frequently underestimated. A modern kitchen needs separate points for the chimney, hob ignition, microwave, mixer, water purifier, fridge and often a dishwasher. Adding them after tiling means cutting into finished walls.
Wall tiles above the counter (the dado), a water purifier point and the gas pipeline are the last common extras. If your flat has piped gas, fix the hob position before the cabinets are designed, because the pipe outlet decides where the hob can go.
How to compare two kitchen quotes
Put both quotes in the same format before comparing totals. List each unit with its width, the carcass material, the shutter material, the hinge and channel brand and the counter. Then compare line by line.
Check the carcass in the sink unit specifically. Check whether the counter, the backsplash tiles and the installation are included. Check the warranty in writing: how many years on the carcass, the hardware and the shutters, and what it excludes.
A lower total that leaves out the counter, the corner unit and the accessories is not cheaper. It is incomplete.
How long a modular kitchen takes
Once the design is signed off, factory production takes three to five weeks for most laminate kitchens and a little longer for acrylic or PU shutters. Installation on site takes five to seven working days, and the granite counter goes in after the base units are fixed.
If you are doing civil, plumbing or tiling work as well, add one to two weeks before the kitchen arrives. The most common delay is a design change after production has started, so finalise appliance sizes before you sign.
