In Indian kitchens, a trolley usually means a pull-out basket or drawer fitted inside a base cabinet, not a cart on wheels. Plate racks, cutlery trays, bottle pull-outs and wire baskets for vessels are what turn a row of empty boxes into a kitchen you can actually cook in.
They are also where kitchen quotes get vague. "Accessories as per design" can mean six good fittings or two cheap ones. And because the accessories are installed last, they are the first thing cut when the budget runs short.
Here is a guide to the kitchen trolleys and accessories worth paying for, how to choose between baskets and drawers, and what they cost.
Baskets or drawers
This is the first decision, and Indian kitchens are split on it.
Wire baskets, usually stainless steel, are the traditional choice. They let water drain from washed vessels, let air circulate and are cheap to replace. Their weakness is that small items fall through and dust settles on everything.
Tandem drawers or box drawers have solid sides and bottoms, run on full-extension soft-close channels and hold heavy loads. They look neater, keep dust out and hold small items. They cost more.
Many kitchens use both: baskets for washed vessels and plates near the sink, and drawers for dry items, spices and cutlery elsewhere.
Kitchen trolley types worth having
A plate and thali rack, in a drawer near the sink, stores plates upright so they drain and are easy to pick out.
A cutlery tray in the top drawer closest to the dining side keeps spoons and ladles sorted. Choose one with adjustable dividers.
A cup and saucer basket, or a drawer with shallow dividers, keeps tea things together near the hob or the kettle.
A deep drawer or basket for large vessels, such as kadais, pressure cookers and tawas, sits under the hob. It needs to be at least 8 inches deep and strong enough for heavy cast-iron vessels.
A bottle pull-out, a narrow unit 6 to 9 inches wide beside the hob, holds oil bottles, masalas and sauces. It uses gaps that would otherwise be wasted.
A pull-out dustbin under the sink, with separate bins for wet and dry waste, makes waste segregation in Bangalore far easier.
A detergent and cleaning holder, also under the sink, keeps cleaning supplies off the floor of the cabinet.
A wicker or ventilated basket for onions, potatoes and garlic should sit away from the hob and the sink, where it stays dry and cool.
Corner and tall unit accessories
A corner carousel, magic corner or LeMans unit makes the corner of an L or U-shaped kitchen reachable. Without one, most of that space goes unused.
A tall pantry pull-out holds groceries in shelves that slide out of a tall unit, so nothing hides at the back. It is one of the best uses of a tall unit in a busy kitchen.
A lift-up mechanism for wall units, instead of side-hinged doors, keeps the door out of your face while you work.

Materials and quality
Choose SS 304 stainless steel for baskets. Chrome-plated or SS 202 baskets can rust in the humid months and stain the cabinet base. Check the weld points, since rust usually starts there.
Channels decide how the trolley feels. Full-extension, soft-close channels rated for at least 30 to 40 kg suit vessel drawers. Basic channels that open only three-quarters waste the back of the drawer.
Buy branded hardware for the drawers you use most, such as the vessel drawer and the cutlery drawer. Mid-range options are fine for drawers you open once a day.
Planning accessories around your routine
List what you cook with and where you use it. Vessels belong under the hob. Plates belong near the sink and the dining side. Spices belong beside the hob. The pressure cooker and its lid need a deep drawer or basket close to the hob.
Count your steel vessels, plates and containers before the design. A plate rack for twelve plates is useless for a family that owns thirty.
Mistakes to avoid
Buying accessories from a catalogue before the kitchen is designed is the most common one. A basket that does not match the cabinet width leaves a gap on each side or does not fit at all.
Fitting too many narrow pull-outs is the second. Two 6-inch bottle pull-outs in a small kitchen take space that one wide drawer would use better.
Choosing cheap channels for heavy drawers is the third. A vessel drawer loaded with cast-iron and steel needs channels rated for the weight, or it will sag and stop closing within a year.
Forgetting the gas cylinder is the fourth. In homes without piped gas, plan a ventilated base unit for the cylinder, away from the electrical points.
What kitchen trolleys cost in Bangalore
In 2026, a standard SS 304 basket costs about Rs 1,500 to Rs 5,000 depending on size. A tandem drawer with soft-close channels costs about Rs 4,000 to Rs 12,000 per drawer. A cutlery tray insert costs Rs 1,500 to Rs 4,000, and a plate rack drawer Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000.
A bottle pull-out costs Rs 3,000 to Rs 9,000. A corner carousel costs Rs 8,000 to Rs 25,000, and a magic corner Rs 18,000 to Rs 45,000. A tall pantry pull-out costs Rs 18,000 to Rs 50,000.
For a typical 2 or 3 BHK kitchen, a well-chosen set of accessories adds about Rs 25,000 to Rs 70,000 to the kitchen cost.
